Hello! My name is Lindsey Smiles, and I am the creator of this exhibition. I am a sophomore studying English with a Minor in Writing at the University of Michigan. This project was the result of a class assignment and a decade-long interest in an incredibly niche historical event. I was probably in the third grade when I first checked out a book about women’s labor movements from the library, and the Triangle fire became one of those things that I think about regularly. As I mentioned in my Author’s Notes, this project consumed my life for about a month. If it wasn’t for due dates, I’m sure I could continue working on it for another month.
