THE LEGACY
In 2008, the Remember the Triangle Fire Coalition was formed. It is an alliance of more than 200 individuals and organizations dedicated to educating the public about the fire through educational outreach and social media. Currently, the organization is trying to establish a permanent art memorial to the victims who died in the fire.
In 2019, Senator Elizabeth Warren gave a speech in New York City as part of her presidential campaign. In it, she shared the story of the fire and commemorated the work that women activists did following the fire. Their advocacy led to the creation of laws that are still in place today.
It has been more than a century since the tragedy that occurred on March 25, 1911, but the change that resulted from it means that the legacy of the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire will live on forever.
